Using The Hub

Spaces, rooms and channels

  • A space is a home for a group. Spaces sit in the bar across the top; everyone starts in The Hub Lounge. Make your own with the + button: start empty, join with an invite link, or import a Discord server template.
  • Rooms are voice: click one to join, and everyone in it can talk, turn on a camera or share a screen. Your call shows in the on-air dock at the bottom, with a timer and every control.
  • Channels are text: messages, images, files, GIFs, stickers, replies, reactions and pins.
  • Direct messages live under the speech-bubble button. They're end-to-end encrypted: the lock in the header shows it, and clicking it shows a safety number you can compare with the other person.

Roles and moderation

Space settings → Roles works like Discord: each role has a colour (or a gradient), an icon from the icon library (or an emoji, or your own picture), a font and permissions. Moderators have their own tools: see Moderation. A space can require the sensitive media filter for its channels (Space settings → Overview), and its owner can make it a community space, listed in Explore for anyone to join.

Little things worth knowing

  • What's new: your profile menu (click your avatar, bottom left) has every update's patch notes.
  • Mark as sensitive: before sending a file, the eye button on it blurs it for everyone.
  • Easter eggs: there are a few. The Egg Hunter badge counts them.
