Publishing to the community shop

Send your plugin or theme from The Hub: Settings → Plugins → Share with the community.

  • A plugin: a .zip of its folder, with plugin.json at the top (or inside one folder). Up to 3 MB zipped and 6 MB unpacked. Only plugin files are accepted: js, css, json, md, txt, images, fonts and sounds.
  • A theme: its .json file (Settings → Appearance → Export), up to 64 KB.

It's checked straight away, then waits for review. Someone who runs The Hub reads every file, and publishes it or declines it with a note you'll see under Your submissions.

  • A published plugin appears in Settings → Plugins → Plugin shop, where it can be installed for everyone. A published theme appears for everyone under Settings → Appearance → Community themes.
  • New versions: raise "version" in plugin.json and send it again. Only you can publish new versions of your plugin, and each version can only be published once.
  • You can have up to 5 submissions waiting at once.

What gets a plugin published

  • It does what its description says, and nothing else.
  • It asks for nothing it doesn't need, and sends nothing anywhere without saying so.
  • Its code is readable: no minified or obfuscated code, no code downloaded at run time.
  • It works with Developer mode switched off (no leftover test code), and cleans up after itself when it's turned off.

People whose plugin is used by 100 people get the Community Dev badge (so do people whose bot has been running for over a month).
